Magnitude 4.8 earthquake rocks Agusan del Sur town
SAN FRANCISCO, AGUSAN DEL SUR – A magnitude 4.8 earthquake rocked Talacogon, Agusan del Sur Friday afternoon.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake had a depth of focus of 13 kilometers, and struck 10 kilometers southeast of Talacogon at 4:55 p.m.
While Phivolcs said aftershocks are not expected, damage to infrastructure is possible.
No damage, however, has so far been monitored or reported.
Johnmar Galdiano, Talacogon municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer, told the Inquirer in a phone interview that an inspection of government buildings showed no damage based on initial assessment.
