MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Residents near Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island are urged to remain vigilant after three ash emissions on Sunday, January 19.
In its latest 24-hour monitoring report released Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the ash emissions lasted from nine to 23 minutes.
The volcano emitted 4,434.5 tons of sulfur dioxide from Sunday to Monday midnight, it added.
Phivolcs likewise reported that Kanlaon generated a moderate plume rising 150 meters, drifting southwest.
The volcano also registered 13 volcanic earthquakes during the same period.

Given these activities, Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating intensified magmatic unrest, according to Phivolcs.
The agency warned of potential hazards, including sudden eruptions, lava flows, ashfall, pyroclastic density currents, rockfalls, and lahars during heavy rainfalls.
Phivolcs also reiterated the prohibition on flying any aircraft near the volcano.
