2 gold traders lose P613,000, mobile phones to robbers in Rizal

LUCENA CITY — Two businessmen engaged in gold trading lost more than P613,000 in cash and mobile phones to three unidentified robbers in Cainta, Rizal, on Sunday, Jan. 19, according to a police report.

The Region 4A police reported Monday that before the incident, the victims identified as Jezzel Marie Corullo and Eugenio Arcilla were contacted by the suspect “John” on the victim’s Facebook page and offered to sell assorted jewelry worth P567,000.

Both parties agreed to meet in a resort in Barangay San Juan on Monday. And at around 4:20 p.m. when they met for the negotiation, the suspect and his two cohorts declared a hold-up.

Investigators said the robbers took P613,600 in cash and five mobile phones worth P99,000 from the victims and sped off aboard motorcycles.

The victims identified the suspects from their photos in the police files.

Police launched a manhunt operation to arrest the suspects. INQ
