ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — A couple and their four-year-old child, who were members of the Loong political family, were visiting a construction site in Barangay Boalan here on Wednesday morning when an unidentified gunman on a motorbike shot them.

The incident happened at 8:55 a.m. Businessman Fathie Bara Loong and his wife Bai Rivalia Sanday Loong sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but their child was spared, police said.

Police Staff Sergeant Roland Fernandez said Fathie sustained three gunshot wounds on his back, while his wife, who was pregnant, died on the spot with two gunshot wounds on her chest.

Fernandez said the suspect immediately fled towards the city proper after the shooting.
