The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel monitoring a Chinese ship off Zambales has successfully prevented the latter from getting closer to the province鈥檚 coastline.

Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy will be transferred to a public hospital after a Pasig City court allowed his hospitalization, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Friday.

Quiboloy was brought back over the previous weekend after complaining of difficulty breathing. He was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia and brought to a private hospital for treatment.

Southern Leyte earthquake generated 166 aftershocks, says Phivolcs

The magnitude 5.8 earthquake that shook San Francisco town in Southern Leyte generated 166 aftershocks as of Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In a report, Phivolcs said the 166 aftershocks were recorded from 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, until 6 a.m. on Friday, January 24. The earthquake occurred at 7:39 a.m. on Thursday, with its epicenter located six kilometers east of San Francisco municipality.

The 17 Filipino crew members of M/V Galaxy Leader who were held captive in Yemen for more than a year are now back home.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed the seafarers鈥 arrival on Thursday evening.
