MANILA, Philippines 鈥� A total of 903 police officers were dismissed from service last year due to various offenses, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP鈥檚 2024 data showed that 5,457 police officers were charged administratively.
Of this figure, 903 officers were dismissed, including five lieutenant colonels, six majors, 12 captains and five lieutenants.

On the other hand, 2,765 were meted penalties, while 2,691 were exonerated.
鈥淎mong those penalized, 1,112 received suspensions, including a colonel, 19 lieutenant colonels, 29 majors, 30 captains and 22 lieutenants,鈥� the police force said in a statement released on Sunday.
鈥淥ther penalties imposed included demotion (108), forfeiture of salary (103), reprimand (423), restriction (82) and withholding of privileges (34),鈥� it added.
Aside from these figures, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil ordered the placing of 20 police officers under restrictive custody.
These officers are still on active duty and were charged over a multi-billion drug bust in Manila in late 2022.
In line with this, the police force imposed measures such as the zero-backlog program, which is a 110-day resolution timeframe prescribed by the National Police Commission Memorandum Circular No. 2016-002.
Moreover, 1,663 personnel underwent seminars on disciplinary policies 鈥渢o enhance their capacity to handle administrative cases with efficiency and procedural precision.鈥�
