2 drown in Cavite, Batangas provinces
LUCENA CITY — Two persons drowned in separate incidents on Monday, Jan. 27, in Cavite and Batangas provinces, the police said.
The Region 4A police reported on Tuesday, Jan. 28, that one of the victims, identified as David Acuin, 13, and friends went for a swim in a river in Barangay San Agustin I, Dasmariñas City, Cavite around 5 p.m.
The victim strayed into the deeper part of the river and drowned. After his body was retrieved from the river, he was taken to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In Lian, Batangas, the victim, Jesse Mae Estember, 19, and her family went for a picnic in a resort in Barangay San Diego.
At 11:55 a.m., the strong currents swept away Estember into the deeper part of the water, where she consequently drowned.
Article continues after this advertisementThe victim was taken to Apacible Memorial District in Nasugbu town but expired during treatment at around 1:30 p.m.

For now, police have recorded the cases as “drowning incidents.”
