The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has pushed China’s “monster ship” farther away from the coast of Zambales, according to the spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore Jay Tarriela.
Tarriela said the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessel 5901 was initially monitored about 54 nautical miles (nm) from the shore but PCG pushed it back to about 120 nm.
The alleged foreign spies recently arrested by authorities had been staying in the Philippines for decades, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that, based on an investigation into the records of the alleged spies, they had been in the Philippines for decades and had “seemingly embedded themselves [in] society.”

The Supreme Court has found Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Judge Romeo Buenaventura guilty of simple misconduct and neglect of duty in handling the high-profile drug case against former Sen. Leila de Lima.
In a resolution issued on Nov. 13, 2024, the high court’s First Division imposed a fine of P36,000 on Buenaventura—P18,000 for simple misconduct, constituting a violation of the New Code of Judicial Conduct, and another P18,000 for simple neglect of duty in the performance or nonperformance of official functions.
