MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit off the waters of Surigao del Sur on Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In an earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake struck some 51 kilometers (km) of Marihatag, Surigao del Sur at 2:47 p.m.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin with a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.

No aftershocks or property damage are expected, Phivolcs said.
