MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga 鈥� A man was arrested in Santa Ana, Pampanga, on Monday, Jan. 3, for selling cigarettes to a minor.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Pampanga police said the 43-year-old suspect was caught in the act of selling cigarettes to an underage person while aboard a utility van in Barangay Santa Lucia.
Police launched a surveillance operation against the suspect after receiving reports from concerned citizens that he had been selling cigarettes to teenagers in the area.
During his arrest, officers found 10 boxes of RGD-brand cigarettes worth P180,000 inside the Hyundai H100 he was driving.
The Pampanga police said the man is facing charges of violating Executive Order No. 26 in relation to the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003.
Under Section 9 of the law, selling cigarettes to individuals under 18 years of age is illegal. INQ
