MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday renewed the government’s commitment to enforce, adding they will also strictly monitor the use of public funds.

Speaking at the 2025 BIR National Tax Campaign Kickoff in Pasay City, Marcos said, “We will hold those who continue to circumvent our system accountable.”

“And I say this with hope and with sternness—hope that we all see the value in contributing to our country and that the law will deal sternly against those who exploit the system unfairly,” he added.

Marcos also assured the public that taxpayer’s money would be utilized on projects that would benefit every Filipino.

(You can be assured that we will strictly monitor the use of public funds. We will ensure that our budget results in projects that benefit our country and every Filipino.)

(So let us fulfill our duty. Because we believe that if we invest in each other, we will be closer to the nation we aspire to build—both for the present and future generations.)

During the event, Marcos also announced that the Bureau of Internal Revenue collected almost P3 trillion in taxes in 2024—the most in two decades.
