PSA targets to assist over 13,000 Antique帽os secure birth certificates

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) targets 13,876 Antiqueños to secure birth certificates under its Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP).
PSA-Antique Chief Statistical Specialist Randy Tacogdoy, in an interview on Tuesday, said the targets from 18 municipalities were verified with no birth records by local civil registry offices (LCROs) and village officials.
“Most of the people who have no birth records live in remote areas that they do not have access to the LCROs and PSA,” she said.
PSA has five teams that hold mobile registrations in coordination with LCROs.
PSA Antique birth registration coordinator Ember Grace Dioso said as of Jan. 30, they have registered 3,852 individuals and issued free PSA birth certificates to 2,458.
Article continues after this advertisementDuring the opening of the 35th Civil Registration Month celebration in Laua-an town on Monday, 14 villages of Guaimon, Latazon, Liya-liya, Pandanan, Poblacion, and Santiago availed themselves of the BRAP.
Article continues after this advertisementThe villages host the Indigenous Peoples group Iraynon Bukidnon, one of the priority sectors for the project.
Tacogdoy encouraged parents to register their children early for proof of legal identity and nationality.
“I am encouraging, especially parents, to have their children registered early so they would have their much-needed birth certificates,” he said.
