MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island released an increased amount of sulfur dioxide on Wednesday (February 5).
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) gave the information through its latest 24-hour monitoring report on Thursday (February 6).
Kanlaon released 4,194 tons of sulfur dioxide, surpassing the 1,962 tons measured on the previous day.
The agency also detected 15 volcanic earthquakes during the same period, along with a moderate plume rising 300 meters above the summit and drifting west.
However, no ash emissions were recorded.

Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating intensified or magmatic unrest.
Due to this situation, Phivolcs recommended the evacuation of residents within a six-kilometer radius of the volcano鈥檚 summit.
The agency also warned of potential hazards under Alert Level 3, such as sudden explosive eruptions, lava flows or effusions, ashfalls, pyroclastic density currents, rockfalls and lahars during heavy rainfall.
Flying any aircraft near the volcano is strictly prohibited due to the ongoing volcanic activity.
