MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police on Saturday said all PNP personnel still have to undergo “strict and regular drug testing” contrary to “misleading claims” circulating online.

The PNP clarified that the exemption referred only to firearms permits since “our personnel already undergo routine drug testing during service, including annual screenings and mandatory assessments in specialized training.”

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier said the spliced video was “downright malicious” because it was edited to deliberately mislead people that police and army personnel are now exempt from mandatory drug and psychological tests. —Nestor Corrales
