Rainy until midweek in parts of Luzon, Visayas due to shear line
MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains are expected in parts of Luzon and the Visayas from Sunday, February 9 until Wednesday, February 12 due to the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a heavy rainfall outlook released Sunday afternoon, Pagasa warned of moderate to heavy rain in the following provinces from Sunday to Monday afternoon:
- Quezon
- Oriental Mindoro
- Palawan
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Eastern Samar
- Northern Samar
These areas may see rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters (mm), which may lead to localized flooding in urban areas, low-lying regions, and near rivers, according to the state weather bureau.
Meanwhile, the following areas are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from Monday to Tuesday afternoon, still due to the shear line:
- Aurora
- Quezon
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes Albay
- Sorsogon
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
The state weather bureau also reported that the following areas will see moderate to heavy rains from Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon:
- Cagayan
- Isabela
- Aurora
- Quezon
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” Pagasa noted in its bulletin.
