MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two individuals and seized explosive materials during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City, the police announced on Tuesday.
The CIDG Zamboanga City Field Unit reported apprehending two individuals identified as 鈥淎rjemhar鈥� and 鈥淕amar鈥� at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 in Barangay Rio Hundo.
They were alleged to be possessing, trading, acquiring, or disposing of explosives and materials used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Authorities confiscated the following evidence:
- 2,000 pieces of blasting caps
- 2,000 pieces of improvised non-electric blasting caps
- Five pieces of plastic bags containing alleged trinitrotoluene (TNT)
- Three rolls of commercial safety fuse
- Two pieces of light pink spool detonating cord
- 20 pieces of P1,000 bills in boodle money
- A genuine P1,000 bill
- A sports utility vehicle
- Other non-explosive pieces of evidence
The police did not provide an estimate as to the value of the explosives and equipment seized.
The Zamboanga City CIDG filed criminal complaints against the two suspects for violating Republic Act 9516, which regulates explosives.
