Cops seize explosives, nab 2 in Zamboanga City

MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two individuals and seized explosive materials during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City, the police announced on Tuesday.

The CIDG Zamboanga City Field Unit reported apprehending two individuals identified as “Arjemhar” and “Gamar” at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 in Barangay Rio Hundo.

They were alleged to be possessing, trading, acquiring, or disposing of explosives and materials used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Authorities confiscated the following evidence:

The police did not provide an estimate as to the value of the explosives and equipment seized.

The Zamboanga City CIDG filed criminal complaints against the two suspects for violating Republic Act 9516, which regulates explosives.
