COTABATO CITY — A vice mayoral candidate in Maguindanao del Sur survived an ambush Tuesday around 9 a.m. along the national highway in Buluan town.
Anwar Dimasinsil, 46, candidate for vice mayor of Buluan under the Lakas Christian Democrats party, revealed details of the ambush attempt on his Facebook page.
“We were ambushed near the provincial capitol, and luckily, nobody was hurt,” Dimasinsil said as he showed the bullet holes on the driver’s side of his black Mitsubishi Montero vehicle.
His unnamed driver, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was hit, but the bullet did not penetrate his chest.
Dimasinsil said the gunmen were on board a silver sedan vehicle, who sped away immediately after the shooting.
