Fire hits a warehouse in Marikina City

MANILA, Philippines — A warehouse in Barangay Malanday, Marikina City caught fire on Wednesday, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The BFP said the blaze was out at first alarm at 11:21 a.m.

It was raised to the second alarm at 11:32 a.m., and reached the third alarm at 11:52 a.m.

Fire authorities declared the blaze under control at 2:42 p.m., more than three hours since the fire started.

Six hours later at 5:13 p.m., the BFP finally declared a “fire out.”

A total of fourteen fire trucks and one ambulance have responded to the scene, the BFP said in its latest report released 5:41 p.m.

The BFP also confirmed that a 57-year old male, identified as Sofromeo Castello Jr., suffered a first-degree burn on both his upper and lower extremities.

Castello is currently being treated at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City.

Further details on the extent of the damage are also yet to be released.
