Moderate to heavy rains, strong winds expected in parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds are expected in several parts of Luzon on Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its latest thunderstorm advisory, Pagasa reported that moderate to heavy rains, ranging from 2.5 to 7.5 millimeters per hour, is likely within the next two hours in the following areas:
- Bulacan
- Tarlac
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Rizal
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said the same weather conditions are already affecting the following areas and may persist for the next two hours:
- Metro Manila (Quezon City)
- Quezon Province (General Nakar, Tagkawayan, Calauag, Guinayangan, Unisan, Gumaca, Plaridel, Atimonan, Agdangan)
- Laguna (Luisiana, Pagsanjan, Magdalena, Cavinti, Nagcarlan, San Pablo, Calauan, Liliw, Rizal, Majayjay)
- Zambales (San Marcelino, San Narciso, San Felipe)
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” Pagasa warned.

Article continues after this advertisementThe state weather bureau earlier reported that the intertropical convergence zone, easterlies, and the shear line would bring cloudy skies and scattered rains across the country on Thursday.
However, it also noted that the low-pressure area being monitored remains outside the Philippine area of responsibility and has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
