LEGAZPI CITY – Government forces found a cache of firearms and explosives in Labo town in Camarines Norte on Thursday morning, police said.
Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of Bicol police, reported that they recovered four M16 A1 rifles, an M14 rifle, an M1 carbine, five improvised explosive devices, seven improvised hand grenades, nine improvised switches, four rolls of detonating cord, and 50 blasting caps in Barangay (village) Baay around 11:30 a.m.
Calubaquib said the area was located through a report from a former rebel who surrendered in January.
The recovered firearms and the explosives were turned over to the 16th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
