Ex-President Duterte: Filipinos irked by current admin

MANILA, Philippines — Former President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said he is certain that Filipinos are now “annoyed” with the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. due to several reasons, including “failed promises.”
In his speech delivered during the , Duterte said he could sense that Filipinos were becoming annoyed but emphasized that he did not want to “raise it to the level of anger.”
“I know Filipinos are annoyed. As of now, it’s not hatred, but I could sense the people are already annoyed. That’s what gets into their minds while they’re hungry. That’s the end for all of us,” Duterte said in Filipino.
“The people are not really angry — I don’t want to raise it to the level of anger. I’m sure that the Filipinos are fed up — either because of failed promises or whatever,” he added.

Duterte cited Marcos’ struggle to bring down the price of rice.
“It’s not that easy. I have been there, but the guy is simply taking his time to come up with a solution to the problem,” said Duterte.
“Like rice, it hits the heart of the Filipino. He doesn’t get it, either subsidized or whatever, but it goes on up and up and Filipinos are struggling to cope. It seems like he can’t address the rising price issue,” he added.
