CEBU CITY 鈥 Police are after a man from outside of Central Visayas identified by two minors who allegedly fell victim to online sexual abuse.
The victims from Barangay Cadulawan, Talisay City were reportedly subjected to online sexual exploitation by the man who befriended them through Facebook (FB), C/Master Sgt. Shindey Taboco, head of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Talisay City Police Office, said Friday.
鈥淭he suspect made video calls to these minors and performed lewd acts in open camera. The parents reported to the police,鈥 Taboco added.
Col. Lemuel Gonda, chief of RACU-7, said they have already identified the suspect, based on the children鈥檚 testimony and the FB pictures presented, and determined the location of the suspect outside Central Visayas.
鈥淚f we have all the details of his identity, we will file a case and possible follow-up operations,鈥 Gonda told the Philippine 黑料社 Agency.
Gonna said the victims were referred to the City Social Welfare Department of Talisay City at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday 鈥渇or appropriate psychosocial services and intervention.鈥
To avoid similar incidents in the future, Taboco advised parents to take control of their children鈥檚 social media accounts.
Taboco said children who have FB accounts are prone to abuse if no parents are monitoring their activities online.
鈥淧arents should monitor their children. They should maintain access to their children鈥檚 Facebook accounts and check their settings and friends,鈥 Taboco said.
