Marcos honors Enrile on 101st birthday: A life well-lived

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday honored Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile on his 101st birthday, saying the latter “has not only witnessed history but has actively shaped it.”

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday honored Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile on his 101st birthday, saying the latter “has not only witnessed history but has actively shaped it.”

In his message for Enrile’s birthday, Marcos described him as a “statesman, a legal luminary and an exemplary public servant.”

“Today, we celebrate a man and his life—a life that, by any measure, has been truly well-lived,” Marcos said.

“He has not only witnessed history but has actively shaped it. In that time, he has amassed a wealth of wisdom and experience, which he generously shares. It is one that all presidents, including myself, have gladly partaken in,” he added.

The president further said that Enrile’s birthday, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, reminds him that “the sharpness of his mind is equaled only by the warmth of his heart for the Filipino people.”

“Happy Birthday, Secretary Tata Johnny Ponce Enrile! We are truly blessed to have you on our team as our Chief Presidential Legal Counsel,” Marcos said.

He also said, “We wish you good health, good cheer, and good spirits as we celebrate your 101st birthday with you. Naimbag a Panagkasangay Tata Johhny!”
