4 dead, 2 hurt as fire hits a residential area in Pasay City

MANILA, Philippines — Four fatalities and two injuries were recorded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) after a blaze hit a residential area in Pasay City on Saturday morning (February 15).
According to the BFP report, responders were first called at around 4:31 a.m. to the scene along Esteban Street in Barangay 177.
The fire reached the first alarm at 4:35 a.m., the second at 4:41 a.m. and the third at 4:58 a.m.
The blaze was put under control by 6:10 a.m. and was extinguished by 7:23 a.m.
The four fatalities were a seven-year-old boy, a 14-year-old male, a 34-year-old female and a 40-year-old male.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, injuries were sustained by an 18-year-old male who had a two-inch laceration on his right foot; and a 58-year-old female who suffered a minor burn on her right hand.
Article continues after this advertisementThe fire originated from a three-story residential building, spreading to around 35 houses and causing an estimated damage of P1.2 million, according to the BFP.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, the fire bureau said.
Sixteen BFP fire trucks, 25 fire volunteer trucks and one BFP ambulance responded to the incident.
