CIDG: P25-M illegal LPG equipment seized in Caloocan, 8 arrested

MANILA, Philippines — Some P25 million worth of illegal liquified petroleum gas (LPG) equipment were seized while eight suspects were arrested in Caloocan City on Friday, February 14, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
In a report on Monday, the CIDG said the suspects, alias Dario, Jeorge, John Paul, Simeon, Orvin, Wilfredo, Serphil, and Herbert, were all collared along Barangay 163 in Sta. Quiteria.
Five others, however, remain at large.
The CIDG and Petron Corp. implemented a search warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 11592 or the LPG Industry Regulation Act.
Confiscated from the suspects were 38 empty cylinders, 42 filled cylinders, two weighing scales, component hoses and refilling pumps, a compressor, a bullet tank, and four vehicles.

The suspects are now under police custody and will also face formal complaints for unauthorized cross-filling and manufacturing, distributing, refilling, or selling LPG cylinders “carrying a trademark or trade name without the expressed approval of the trademark owner.”
