MANILA, Philippines – Six areas in Mindanao are expected to experience cloudy skies and scattered rains on Tuesday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the ITCZ will bring rain to Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat.
“Ito po ‘yung intertropical convergence zone o ITCZ na nakakaapekto naman dito sa may Southern Mindanao,” Dominguez said in a morning forecast.
(This is the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ that is currently affecting Southern Mindanao.)
Localized thunderstorms are also expected in other parts of Mindanao on Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to Dominguez.

(There is also a shear line, which is the area where warm and cold air meet, affecting the eastern section of Northern Luzon.)
She added that the northeast monsoon or amihan has weakened and will only cause cloudy skies with rains in Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao.
(Here in the huge part of the country, we will experience warm and humid weather. This is due to the weakening of the northeast monsoon, which is now affecting only extreme Northern Luzon.)
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also experience warm and humid weather on Tuesday, with chances of localized thunderstorms, Dominguez added.
(For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, expect warm and humid weather from noon until afternoon, with a high chance of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)

No low-pressure area or weather disturbance is currently being monitored by Pagasa within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
Despite rain showers in various parts of the country, no gale warning has been issued by the state weather bureau for any of the country’s seaboards.
However, Dominguez advised small boats to take precautions due to potential rough seas, with wave heights reaching 3.5 meters, caused by thunderstorms.
