MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Passengers of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will soon pay higher fares after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) approved the railway system鈥檚 petition for a fare increase.
In an advisory on Tuesday, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announced that the revised fare matrix will be implemented starting April 2, 2025.
Under the approved fare adjustments, the maximum fare for a single journey ticket will increase from P45 to P55, while the minimum fare will rise from P15 to P20.
In addition, the maximum fare for a stored value card will go up from P43 to P52, while the minimum fare will increase from P15 to P16.
According to the LRMC, the current LRT-1 fare formula, which comprises a P13.29 boarding fee and a P1.21 per-kilometer rate, will be adjusted to a P16.25 boarding fee with a P1.47 per-kilometer rate.
