3 dead, 1 hurt in a motorcycle collision in Rizal

Army intel operative commited suicide, not slain, military clarifies

LUCENA CITY — Three riders died and another was gravely injured on Saturday (February 22) in a collision between two motorcycles in Morong town in Rizal province.

The Region 4A police reported that the vehicles of motorcyclists Patrick San Miguel, 22, and Domingo Rigunay Jr., 20, collided head on in the middle of a national road in Barangay (village) CCL (Caniogan-Calero-Lanang) around 12 a.m.

The two motorcyclists and their two back-riders suffered grave injuries and were taken to different hospitals for treatment.

However, San Miguel and his pillion rider, Marquis Evan Sales, 22, were both declared dead on arrival.

Rigunay’s back-rider, King Cyruz Capuz, 18, also expired in another hospital.

Rigunay was transferred to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City for further treatment.

Citing a witness, the investigators found out that the two motorcycles, running from opposite directions, passed by a third vehicle before the motorcycles bumped into each other.

The report did not state whether or not the four riders were wearing crash helmets, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
