DOH to hold nationwide anti-dengue drive on Feb. 24

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) will hold an anti-dengue clean-up drive across the country on Monday, February 24 amid the rising dengue cases.

The “Alas-Kwatro Kontra Mosquito” drive will be launched at 4 p.m.

“Sabay sabay nating puksain ang pinamumugaran ng lamok para hindi ito makapagkalat ng Dengue!” DOH said in a Facebook post.

The DOH said that as of Friday, 4.p.m., the following areas will participate in the program:

  • Municipal of San Dionisio, Iloilo
  • Brgy. 1, San Jose, Antique
  • Municipals of Guimaras
  • Brgy. Tondog, Aklan
  • All government offices in Negros Occidental
  • Municipal of Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur
  • Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental
  • El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental
  • Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
  • Municipal of Norala, South Cotabato
  • Municipal of of Banga, South Cotabato
  • Municipal of Surallah, South Cotabato
  • Municipal of Tantangan, South Cotabato
  • Municipal of Tupi, South Cotabato
  • Municipal of Lebak Sultan, Kudarat
  • Municipal of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
  • General Santos City
  • Buhangin, Davao City

The DOH on Friday reported that there are a total number of 43,732 dengue cases from January to February 15, 2025. It noted that this is a 56 percent increase from the 27,995 cases logged in the same period last year.

However, it observed a five percent slowdown trend of the cases for the past four weeks.

Further, 17 local government units from Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), National Capital Region, and Central Luzon are declared as dengue hotspots.
