The suspects identified as Alexious Aguilar, Romel Estrada, and Jeremie Villa were arrested after delivering the contraband to NBI operatives who paid them with marked money. Seized from the trio were 100 boxes of assorted smuggled frozen fish products.

Aguilar, Estrada, and Villa now face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 10654, which amended RA 8550, also known as the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998, and RA 12022, or the Anti-Agricultural Sabotage Act of 2024, before the Batangas City prosecutor’s office. —Gillian Villanueva
