MANILA, Philippines—The northeast monsoon or amihan and the easterlies will bring overcast skies and rains to many parts of the country on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a morning forecast, state weather specialist Benison Estareja said the cold northeast monsoon will bring rains to much of Luzon, particularly in its northern areas.
(For today, expect cloudy weather with light rains in the north, including Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora province. That is due to the northeast monsoon.)
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the northeast monsoon, Estareja added.

(Some areas over a large part of Visayas will experience rains due to the easterlies, including Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, and parts of Northern Samar.)
(For our fellow citizens in Mindanao, there is a high chance of rain in the eastern section. That is due to the easterlies… including Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and in a huge part of the Caraga and Davao regions.)
Estareja said that the state weather bureau is not currently monitoring any low-pressure area inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
“Malit din ang tsansa na magkakaroon ng bagyo hanggang sa unang linggo ng Marso,” he pointed out.
(There is also a low chance of a typhoon forming until the first week of March.)
