MANILA, Philippines 鈥� As the Muslim community starts the observance of Ramadan on Friday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on the public to contemplate their purpose, show compassion, and uplift others.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is usually marked by the sighting of the crescent moon, which is expected to be on or around February 28 this year.

鈥淭his sacred season marks the revelation of the Qur鈥檃n to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), a period for personal reflection, spiritual growth, and a renewed commitment to faith for our beloved Muslim brothers and sisters,鈥� he continued.
Marcos also said, 鈥淚t is a time that calls us to reflect deeply on our purpose, to extend kindness to those in need, and to uplift those around us.鈥�
The president further described the occasion as a 鈥減owerful and profound catalyst for social transformation.鈥�
鈥淲ith fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, it fosters solidarity that cultivates a sense of belonging,鈥� he said.
鈥淭ogether, let us find strength in the importance of humility and dedication to living with the values of faith,鈥� Marcos added.
Marcos then expressed hope that Ramadan would guide the public 鈥渢owards collective progress for us to reach the light of hope that shines brightly for all.鈥�
