MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Sunday highlighted the crucial role of Filipino women in nation-building as he marked the celebration of Women’s Month, calling for stronger efforts to break barriers and promote gender equality.

“This Women’s Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Filipino women who continue to shape our nation,” Romualdez said in a statement.

“Whether as mothers, educators, workers, entrepreneurs, or leaders, their dedication is the backbone of our society,” he added.

Beyond recognition, Romualdez stressed the need for concrete actions to protect women’s rights, eliminate discrimination and violence, and ensure equal opportunities.

(Throughout our history, the contributions of women are immeasurable. From the home to the fields of economy, education, politics, and public service, they provide strength and compassion to our society.)

(Their intelligence, hard work, and determination are the foundation of our continuous progress.)
