MANILA, Philippines —  No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is expected within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility until the end of the week, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

But the state weather bureau said the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will prevail in the country on Tuesday, bringing overcast skies and scattered rains.

“Wala tayong nakikitang anumang low-pressure area or bagyo na papasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility hanggang sa matapos po ang linggong ito,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja reported in a Tuesday morning forecast.

(We do not see any low-pressure area or tropical cyclones entering the Philippine area of responsibility until the end of the week.)

Estareja further said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Bicol Region, Caraga, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte and Davao Oriental.

“Ang easterlies ang nagko-cause din po ng mga pag-ulan in some areas in the eastern section of our country at magdadala rin ng maalinsangang panahon pagsapit po ng tanghali,” Estareja explained.

(The easterlies are causing rainfall in some areas in the eastern part of our country and will also bring warm and humid weather by midday.)

“Kapansin-pansin din itong cloud cluster o kumpol ng kaulapan sa may silangan po ng Mindanao. Dahil sa easterlies, magkukrus po ito dito sa bahagi po ng Mindanao,” he added.

(We can also spot a cloud cluster located east of Mindanao. Due to the easterlies, it will pass through parts of Mindanao.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies, Estareja said.

”Kaya mag-ingat po sa banta ng baha at pagguho ng lupa dahil minsan lalakas po ang mga pag-ulan,” he warned the public.

(Stay alert for possible flooding and landslides, as rain showers may sometimes become heavy.)

No gale warning has been issued by Pagasa in any of the country’s seaboards on Tuesday, according to Estareja.
