Magnitude 2.2 earthquake hits Camarines Norte

LEGAZPI CITY — A magnitude 2.2 earthquake struck eastern Camarines Norte on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a bulletin.

The earthquake was recorded at 1:43 a.m. and tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said. Its center was determined to be near Vinzons town.

No damages or aftershocks were predicted for this earthquake.

The agency also recorded five earthquakes on Tuesday in Quezon province.

The first was recorded at 1:47 a.m. with a magnitude of 1.5, east of General Nakar.

The second earthquake’s magnitude increased to 2.3 after it hit at 3:32 a.m. east of Jomalig, which is estimated to be 79 km from the quake in General Nakar.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs recorded two simultaneous shakes by 4:14 a.m. west of Panukulan, with magnitudes of 2.2 and 2.4, respectively. The last was recorded at 6:32 a.m. with a magnitude of 1.5, north of Patnanungan.

All consecutive earthquakes were reported to be tectonic in origin.

No aftershocks and damages were incurred.
