Gallons of recycled cooking oil seized, 3 nabbed in Isabela

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities confiscated 173 gallons of allegedly recycled, adulterated and unlabeled cooking oil from a trading warehouse in Isabela province, arresting three individuals, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced.
According to the CIDG’s report on Tuesday, the operation took place at the NB Cooking Oil Trading Warehouse in Barangay Buenavista, Santiago City on Feb. 26.
Apart from the cooking oil, authorities also confiscated mounted storage, a digital weighing scale, a funnel, a closed van and a ten-wheeler tanker truck marked “NB Cooking Oil,” the CIDG said.
All evidence was valued at P3.5 million, the police added.

Article continues after this advertisementFurther, the CIDG said it arrested “Bonaleth,” the owner and manager of the company; “Catherine,” a cashier; and “John,” a delivery worker.

The three suspects were charged before the National Prosecution service for violating Republic Act No. 9711 or the FDA Act, RA No. 7394 or the Consumer Act, and RA No. 10611 or the Food Safety Act.
