PAF’s FA-50 fighter jets grounded following Bukidnon crash
All FA-50 fighter jets of the Philippine Air Force were grounded after one of the jets crashed in the Kalatungan mountain range in Bukidnon, PAF Spokesperson Col. Maria Consuelo Castillo said Wednesday.
“We have 11 FA-50s grounded right now because we have a total of 12 which were acquired in 2015 and 2017,” the PAF official said in an online press conference on Wednesday.
The portion of a bridge connecting the towns of Cabagan and Sta. Maria in Isabela province may have collapsed due to underdesign, based on an initial investigation by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Citing a conversation with Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Claire Castro said on Wednesday that Cabagan-Sta. Maria Bridge may not be able to carry the load of trucks that passed through resulting in the collapse.

LTFRB requires safety training for PUV drivers, conductors
Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and conductors may soon have to pay an estimated P2,000 for a mandatory comprehensive training on road safety, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Wednesday.
The LTFRB said that under Memorandum Circular No. 2024-040, the agency shall develop and institutionalize the “Driver’s and Conductor’s Academy Program (DCAP)” which will include the accreditation of driving schools that will conduct the training and the mandatory road safety education of drivers and conductors of PUVs.
