3 dead, 3 injured in fire at a residential area in Concepcion Uno, Marikina

Fire hits residential area in Quiapo

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons died while three others were injured after a blaze hit a three-story residential building in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City on Thursday morning, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The BFP said the fire broke out in the building along E. Santos Street cor. Cepeda Street at around 8:05 a.m.

The incident was raised to the first alarm at 8:11 a.m.

It was brought under control by 8:30 a.m. and was declared fully extinguished at 9:44 a.m..

The BFP said the fatalities are a 55 year old male, a 23 year old and 18 year old female.

Among the injured were Ronel John Jarlego, 29, and Stacey Anne Jarlego, 6, who sustained first-degree burns on their upper bodies.

Meanwhile, Sid Andrei Jarlego, 4, suffered an abrasion on his left elbow.

The BFP said around 60 individuals were displaced by the fire.

Estimated damage to property is P100,000.

Six fire trucks, two rescue trucks, and two ambulance units were deployed to the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
