‘Focus’ crimes in Metro Manila down by 17%, says NCRPO

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a 17.04-percent decrease in crime from November 2024 to March 2025, the capital law enforcement agency said on Saturday.

In a statement, the NCRPO said focus crime incidents dropped from 1,837 from Nov. 23, 2023 to March 2, 2024; to 1,524 from Nov. 23, 2024 to March 2, 2025.

Focus crimes include murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, carnapping of motorcycles and motor vehicles, and theft.

Further, the NCRPO reported a crime clearance efficiency rate of 98.82 percent and a crime solution efficiency rate of 72.24 percent.

The capital police force also reported arresting 3,721 individuals through manhunt and warrant operations from Nov. 23, 2024 to March 2, 2025.

Additionally, 4,028 individuals were arrested in 2,729 anti-illegal drug operations during the same period, seizing drugs valued at P267,639,096.80.

The NCRPO also arrested 7,695 individuals in 3,126 anti-gambling operations, confiscating P1,883,471 in pot money.

When it comes to its campaign against loose firearms, the capital regional police reported apprehending 796 individuals for firearm-related violations in 776 operations, which seized 815 illegal firearms.

Further, the NCRPO logged 662,150 violators of local ordinances, collecting P180,887,273 in fines.
