Couple, 7-year-old daughter dead in Iloilo fire
ILOILO CITY — A couple and their 7-year-old daughter died in a fire that broke out around 4:30 a.m on Saturday in their ancestral home in Barangay Infante, Molo, Iloilo.
SF01 Denmark Macoco, acting chief of the intelligence and investigation unit of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said they were able to recover the charred remains of spouses Louelyn Reyes, 47; and Julius Reyes, 48, as well as their daughter Amber Marie.
Macoco said the family tried to escape through the window of their house but could not open it due to the steel matting.
Louelyn’s twin sister Louela Gregorio, who lives in the house, shared that she heard her sister’s scream but she was unable to save her and the two other fatalities because the fire had spread quickly.
Both of them work as teachers at the Iloilo City National High School.
Damage was pegged at around P270,000.
The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire.
