MANILA, Philippines 鈥斅營n celebration of International Women鈥檚 Day, Tingog party-list organized the event #YEDDANCE Zumba where over 300 women gathered in RTR Palaza in Tacloban City to participate in the discussions on the challenges women continue to face.
鈥淏eyond the physical activity, the event emphasized how grassroots initiatives work alongside policies to uplift and protect women, reinforcing the need for sustained action in advancing gender equality,鈥澛燭ingog party-list said.
During the event, Tingog party-list said it is pushing for the following measures:
- House Bill No. 5740 (HB). It seeks to increase the recruitment quota for women in law enforcement, creating more opportunities for female officers in the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
- The proposed National Sex Offender Registry or HB No. 2714. It aims to strengthen community safety by tracking repeat offenders of sexual violence.
- The Infant-Friendly Facilities Act or HB No. 1950. It seeks to mandate child-friendly spaces in public and government establishments, ensuring better support for working mothers.
They also authored the following laws giving more protection to women and children:
- 聽The 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law or Republic Act 11210. It provides working mothers with extended time to care for their newborns
- The Safe Spaces Act or RA 11313. It strengthens protections against harassment in public, digital, and professional spaces
- The Expanded Solo Parents鈥� Welfare Act or RA 11861. It ensures additional support for solo mothers and their families.

This Women鈥檚 Month, we must continue building a society where every Filipina is free to pursue her dreams, secure in her rights, and supported in her aspirations,鈥� said Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez.
鈥淭he fight for gender equality is not just about policies鈥攊t is about ensuring that every woman, in every role she plays, is seen, heard, and empowered,鈥� she added.
