LUCENA CITY β A suspected drug pusher was wounded during a buy-bust operation that led to an alleged encounter with police officers on Sunday, March 9, authorities said.
In a report on Monday, the Quezon police said members of the Lucena police drug enforcement unit were conducting a sting operation in Barangay Ibabang Iyam at 6:17 p.m. when the suspect, identified as βToy,β realized that he and his associate βJefβ were dealing with undercover police officers.
Toy then pulled out a handgun and fired at the poseur buyer but missed, investigators said.
The operatives returned fire in self-defense, hitting Toy in the legs and arms. He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
Upon searching Jef, police reportedly found one plastic sachet containing shabu weighing 6 grams worth about P40,800, according to the Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.
At the prevailing street price of P20,400 per gram, the confiscated illegal substance is worth about P122,400, the police added.
The report identified the two suspects as street-level drug pushers in the city.
Both suspects are in police custody and will face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and other criminal offenses.
