LUCENA CITY — A drug suspect was killed, while a policeman was wounded, and six other suspects were arrested in separate police operations on Tuesday and Wednesday in Rizal province.
The Region 4A police reported on Wednesday that anti-illegal drug operatives from Cainta town conducted a sting operation in Barangay San Andres at 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
An alias “Michael,” one of the five subjects of the operation, sensed that they were dealing with a police agent, pulled out a handgun, and shot the undercover cop posing as a poseur buyer identified as Corporal Mark Abagon. The cop had a gunshot wound.
The other operatives serving as backups retaliated with gunfire and killed Michael. The wounded policeman was taken to the hospital for treatment
The law enforcers arrested four other suspects identified as “Richard,” “Noel,” “Aldon,” and “Rhona.” The police did not provide information on the illegal drugs seized from the suspects.
In Binangonan town, operatives held “Alfred” at 12:20 a.m. in a drug bust in Barangay Tayuman.
Seized from the suspect, a high-value target, were eight plastic sachets containing shabu (crystal meth) weighing 25 grams worth about P170,000 as per Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his illegal drug business and a mobile phone, which will be examined for records of drug transactions.
In Antipolo City, policemen arrested at 3:05 pm. on Tuesday street pusher “Kith” in Barangay San Jose.
The operation yielded four sachets of dried marijuana leaves weighing 270 grams with a DDB value of P32,400.
All arrested suspects were detained and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
