The statement was in response to a social media post by “Maranao TV” on Facebook advising people to prepare for a possible emergency situation in the capital region.

“We maintain however that, as of now, there is no credible information monitored by our intelligence units that would suggest any form of threat in Metro Manila,” the PNP – NCRPO said in a statement on Friday.

“We want to assure everyone that an in-depth validation was immediately conducted and based on [the] latest intelligence report by various intelligence units, there is no information of any security threat that can cause [a] security alarm in Metro Manila,” the regional police added.

Further, the NCRPO said it was now investigating the social media post.

The PNP announced on Thursday that it lifted its “heightened alert” status over all its regional offices and national support units.

The “heightened alert” status was declared on Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of protest actions in response to the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
