SAN RAFAEL, BULACAN — An information technology (IT) specialist, his girlfriend and security aide were killed in a gun attack in San Rafael, Bulacan.

The incident took place along Maharlika Highway in San Rafael town on Friday (March 21).

The reports reached the office of Central Luzon police chief Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo on Saturday.

The accounts said Bryan Villaflor, 27, was driving his black Ford Everest with bodyguard Jayvee Mariano on the front passenger seat and his girlfriend, identified only as Jam, seated at the back.

At around 3:15 p.m., the Villaflor’s vehicle was traversing the southbound lane of Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Capihan.

At this point, the suspects on board another vehicle tailing the victims’ sports utility vehicle (SUV) suddenly opened fired using automatic rifles.

Villaflor and Mariano died on the spot while Jam was declared dead on arrival at Ace Hospital in Baliwag City later.

Investigations revealed that Villaflor and Mariano were directly hit multiple times in different parts of their body.

The assault also left the back and front windshields of the Ford Everest riddled with bullets.

Police said a footage was taken from a closed circuit television camera nearby.

It revealed that the suspects, still on board their vehicle, stopped in the middle of the road.

Its passengers went on to continue firing at the Ford Everest.

This was even if the Villaflor’s SUV had already stopped on the shoulder of the road following the earlier burst of fires.

Other vehicles nearby were also hit by bullets.

Police recovered 25 spent cartridges of possible caliber 5.56 ammunition from the crime scene.

Villaflor was a social media operator of Bulacan third district congressional candidate Victor Silverio.

Bulacan Third District Rep. Lorna Silverio, mother election aspirant Victor, said the slain Villaflor was a resident of San Ildefonso town.

Villaflor came from his house with the two other victims.

The three victims were going to a supermarket in Baliwag City when they were gunned down.

Silverio confirmed to Inquirer, in a phone interview on Friday night, that Villaflor was her son’s IT consultant and social media operator.

The lawmaker said Villaflor was part of Victor’s team campaigning for a congressional seat in the coming May elections.

In a social media post on Friday night, the younger Silverio vowed to get justice for his staff Villaflor.

Victor said Villaflor was taken from them in the most drastic, savage and devastating manner.

He said described Villaflor as “a friend and a fellow advocate.”
