MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) deployed more than 8,000 personnel to various parts of Metro Manila on Monday to ensure public safety because of the ongoing transport strike.
In a statement, the NCRPO disclosed that it has also mobilized 鈥渁ll necessary resources,鈥� including police units on mobile patrols, foot patrols, and motorcycles.

鈥淏rig. Gen. Anthon Aberin, Regional Director of NCRPO, ordered the deployment of 8,152 personnel across key areas in the region beginning Monday,鈥� it said.
鈥淭his includes civil disturbance management contingents and personnel stationed along major thoroughfares, transport terminals, commercial zones, and other areas of convergence. A reactionary standby support force has also been activated to guarantee adequate reinforcement is available when needed,鈥� the NCRPO added.
Aside from the deployment, the NCRPO also coordinated with local government units and concerned agencies for possible transport assistance to commuters.
The strike was initiated by the transport group Manibela. It began on March 21, days earlier than its scheduled start date of March 24, and will last until March 26.
Manibela is protesting the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board鈥檚 alleged falsification of the data on the Public Transport Modernization Program.
