MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it was finalizing its deployment plans to ensure the security of events being planned to mark the birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday.
The ex-leader’s supporters are holding prayer rallies to call for his repatriation from The Hague, Netherlands, where he is detained while awaiting his trial for alleged crimes against humanity before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a recording sent to reporters in Camp Crame on Tuesday, PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the police force was still finalizing data about the activities with the Davao City Public Safety and Security Office.
“But as a normal procedure ay maglalatag ng kaukulang security coverage ang PNP para siguraduhin ang security and safety ng lahat na aattend diyan sa activity na yan,” Fajardo said.
