Marcos declares 5 holidays for entire month of April

MANILA, Philippines — Mark your calendars and prepare to file your leaves because there will be five holidays in all this April starting Tuesday, the first day of the month.
On March 20, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared April 1 a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l-Fitr, the Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Marcos also issued Proclamation No. 727, making April 9 a regular holiday to mark Araw ng Kagitingin, along with April 17 and 18 for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
April 19 — Black Saturday — is also declared a special non-working holiday.

In total, the non-working holidays the public may enjoy are as follows:
- April 1 – Eid’l-Fitr
- April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan
- April 17 – Maundy Thursday
- April 18 – Good Friday
- April 19 – Black Saturday
This means the first three weeks of the said month will have holidays, giving the working public a well-deserved rest.
