MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized more than 39,000 liters of smuggled fuel worth P2.6 million from three gas stations in Bicol region.
In a statement on Saturday, the agency said testing on the products was conducted by the BOC Enforcement and Security Service, in coordination with Société Générale de Surveillance Philippines.
It found out that “both the initial and confirmatory tests found the marker below the required compliance threshold, indicating that the fuel was withdrawn to evade taxes and duties.”

“These findings highlight the persistent challenges we face in enforcing fuel regulations,” said District Collector Guillermo Pedro Francia IV.
“It is evident that some operators continue to defy compliance measures,” he added.
This development led to the issuance of warrants of seizure against the fuel products in the gasoline stations.
The case is in connection with alleged violation of the Joint Circular No. 001-2021 of the Department of Finance, Bureau of Internal Revenue and BOC.
This is in relation to the National Internal Revenue Code as amended by the Train Law.
