CPA group tackles goals, challenges in confab

MANILA, Philippines — The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI) held its Strategic Planning Conference on Feb. 21 at Unilab Bayanihan Center. The event was aimed at setting the course for the association’s activities this year. ACPACI seeks to promote the advancement of the accounting profession in commerce and industry through research, seminars and webinars, conferences, and dynamic exchanges of knowledge.

The conference began with an invocation led by Cecille Carandang, vice president for operations, followed by opening remarks from Floredee Odulio, chair of the annual planning conference committee. An audio-visual presentation showcased the projects implemented the previous year by former president Elano Marcelo, followed by the outline of the strategic priorities for the year as presented by president Aristeo Cruz. Treasurer Ronald Leabres presented the ACPACI 2025 Budget.

Before the breakout sessions, past president Connie Cadelina, chair of the Council of Past Presidents, highlighted the key challenges facing the association: 1) relevance, 2) member engagement and Retention, 3) leadership succession and governance, and 4) financial stability and revenue generation. The session was followed by committee presentations, where each group outlined and discussed their targets and roadmap.

To put the conference to a close, Secretary Elaine De Guzman provided a synthesis of the discussions.

The daylong program was attended by 63 ACPACI directors, officers, committee chairs and cochairs, and past presidents, and was facilitated by EVP Marvin Madrigalejo and past president Aphat Martinez. The event venue was sponsored by Unilab, through the efforts of vice president Marnee Rosales.

ACPACI earlier held the induction of its 2025 officers, chairpersons and advisers on Jan. 28 at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.
